Our History

1942

The Union of Agricultural Cooperatives from Tarragona is constituted in the catalan city of Reus (100km south form Barcelona). This organization is created to join all the farmers in the region.

1945

Unió establishes in Tivoli Street, in Reus. This facility is known as “La Exportadora” (The exporter).

1954

The Designation of Origin Priorat is created, becoming one of the first DOs in Spain. Unió bottles its first Priorat.

1963

The Union of Agricultural Cooperatives from Tarragona becomes a private organization, independent from Public Administration.

1965

Unió builds a new facility in Reus called “La Roureda”. Its tanks will have a total capacity of 28.000 hectoliters and it will also have a bottling line for 2.500 bottles/hour.

1976

The Designation of Origin Tarragona is created. Unió starts bottling wine under this DO under the brand Roureda.

1982

The Designation of Origin Terra Alta is constituted.

1997

Unió releases its current main facility, in Vilallonga del Camp.

2001

Unió takes part in the constitution of the Designation of Origin Montsant. A few months later we launch “Perlat”.

2005

We create Masia Pubill: our first Catalunya Designation of Origin wine, the same year this DO is created.

2008

We introduce or first organic wine “Copos Nature”.

Our wines can be found in more than 30 countries around the world. Unió is an undeniable referent in catalan winemaking industry.
